The Oxford Household
The Oxford Household is a Midlands group and provides a recreation of a 15th Century encampment in which the liveried troops of the Earl of Oxford muster and train for battle. The primary fighting unit of the household is the bill block; heavy infantry equipped with pole arms. These troops are supplemented by archers and armoured knights.
The troops and non-combatants of the household provide an ongoing display of life in a medieval camp. Tents, weapons, armour and everyday items will be available for close inspection. Food is prepared, children are cared for and the troops arm for battle.
In the arena or on the battlefield the troops will undertake medieval drill and combat. Longbows, crossbows and early handguns demonstrate period firepower
